Home Improvement Express, Northern Colorado

Started in 1999 as one handyman. Still built around fixing things right.

HIE has been through design-build remodeling and custom homes, and in 2018 chose to come back to the work most homeowners actually call about. This is the Fort Collins crew that does it for Northern Colorado.

From one handyman to custom homes, and back to the work people call about.

The business began as a sole proprietor fixing what homeowners needed fixed. It grew into design-build remodeling, then into building custom homes from the ground up.

In 2018 HIE was re-launched with a narrower focus: handyman services and smaller remodels. Junk removal has been added since, so a tear-out and the haul-away can come from the same crew.

The mission

“To consistently deliver professional remodeling and handyman services that exceed our clients’ expectations, while creating relationships that will generate a lifetime of referrals and repeat business.”

The founder holds four national certifications.

They’re prestigious national building and remodeling certifications, earned through rigorous classroom work, periodic continuing education and testing. They’re the reason a bathroom swap and a full kitchen get the same planning.

  • GMB

    Graduate Master Builder

Construction knowledge from the ground up, which is why a small repair gets looked at in the context of the whole house.

  • GMR

    Graduate Master Remodeler

The remodeling track: planning and sequencing work inside a house people are still living in.

  • CAPS

    Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist

Grab bars, steadier thresholds, better light and bathrooms that work for the people using them.

  • CGP

    Certified Green Professional

Building choices that cut energy, water and waste over the life of the house.

The aging-in-place credential shapes how bathrooms and entries get planned. See aging-in-place and senior safety work.

Years behind every craftsman

All of the craftsmen have a minimum of fifteen years experience, and they routinely receive continuing education.

Vans stocked before they leave

The crew drives fully stocked service vans with GPS tracking, so the part you need is more likely to be on board when the work starts.

Licensed, insured, accredited

HIE is fully licensed and insured, and a BBB Accredited Business. Work is covered by a one-year warranty on labor.
